And more on piracy...
Hollywood is asking China to crackdown on the rampant piracy that is so widespread in China before the world converges on Beijing for the Olympics in 2008. Maybe they should go after china secretly using Russia's wireless network.

eDonkeyass
Whelp, plead ignorance or really that dumb to have his wireless network unsecured? I bet the former. A Ohio man has been charged with pirating a movie (Coach Carter of all movies...wow) by distrubuting it over the eDonkey network. His escuse was that his network was unsecured and someone must have parked a car outside with a laptop and illegally use his bandwidth to distribute the film. Yeah, good luck with that one buddy. but it brings the question of what to do about people with wireless networks and how to secure them. Most general people are lucky now that DVD players don't have LCD clocks flashing 12:00 all day long.

Mo money!
Strike another notch into the outsourcing camp. Microsoft is going to invest .7 billion dollars into India and employ an additional 3000 employees bringing their total amount of employees to over 7000.

Microsoft plans to pour .7 billion into India over four years and employ another 3,000 people to deepen its presence in the fast-growing software player, Chairman Bill Gates said Wednesday.

About half of the money will be spent on its existing research and development center, its global software delivery unit and expanding to 33 more cities by opening retail outlets.

"We have about 4,000 people (in India). We would be growing that by 3,000 over the next several years," Gates told a news conference.

Many large foreign companies plan more investment in India, attracted by low costs, an educated work force, and an economy forecast to grow 7 percent to 7.5 percent in the fiscal year to March.

College hoops fan?
CBS will be offering free coverage of college hoops during March Madness. They're going for an ad supported model to gain viewers. There goes the bandwidth in corporate offices in March while everyone at 'work' will be watching games.

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - CBS Sports will offer out-of-market basketball games for free online during NCAA March Madness.

It's the fourth year that CBS Sports has offered the mostly regional games, ones that wouldn't appear across the whole network, beginning March 16. There will be as many as 56 NCAA men's tournament games available on the Web, beginning with the first games and continuing through the regional semi-finals. For the first three years, including last year with http://www.CSTV.com, it was a premium service.

WOOT!
has the Infocus 61" rear projection TV for $ 2499.99+ shipping again but this time they're including some crazy Matrix Collectors box set with over 10 DVDs. Woot is describing it as..."Think of it as a Very Pricy DVD Set That Comes With a Free TV". I'm liking this the more I look at it, but I still have my sights on the Samsung 61" 1080i HLR box. But I can wait until after Jan 1 when prices come down even more. (Funny I keep saying that quarter after quarter ever since I had my eye on the old HLP series) I'm sure i'll want the 70" in January.

WOOT WOOT WOOT!

UPDATE: Deal's dead, but they have a Camcorder for < $ 400 now
